Well, apart from planning thoroughly we can take steps to avoid unfavourable situations while travelling. Here is a list of 5 do's and don'ts while travelling:

DO's

1. Plan, plan, plan !

Plan everything well in advance. From hotel or hostel rooms to purchasing tickets, you need to plan everything to avoid messy situations. If you are travelling during the peak season, book your stay in advance as you might find a shortage of rooms in prime locations.

Plan your days in advance and make sure you plan your dresses according to the weather.

Not having the correct clothing can definitely impact your trip, so it’s important to take all scheduled activities into account when packing. Layers are always a good idea because the weather can be unpredictable, and it’s smart to bring a pair of sneakers for comfortable walking no matter where you go.

2. Read thoroughly

Read as much as possible about the culture, prime locations, tourist places, local dishes, local conveyance etc about the city you are travelling in.

Reading about the local culture can be your saviour throughout the trip. Doing research and reading about the place you travel to is perhaps one of the most important and ignored activities most people travelling do.

It can greatly increase the joy one receives from the trip itself as it is much easier for you to relate to stuff.

3. Carry your Essentials

Whether you are planning a trip to the mountains or planning a beachy vacation you need to plan and pack your essentials right.

For example, if you are planning a trip to the mountains make sure you carry sufficient warm clothes, umbrellas, an extra pair of socks, mufflers and caps to avoid getting ill. Or if you are travelling to a coastal city make sure you carry an umbrella as the rain is unpredictable.

4. Plan your budget

You need to plan your budget well in advance and keep cash slightly more than planned because when you are travelling to another city you might face situations where you might need to spend unpredictably.

Also, planning your budget in advance can help you in achieving a smooth stay.

5. Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is the most important part of travelling. Regardless of the place, be it mountains or beaches or plains it is important to keep yourself hydrated throughout your trip. This is because the change of elevation might cause dehydration leading to sickness.

Also, Flying causes dehydration, and when you have plenty of fun activities you need to be hydrated. Bring a reusable water bottle that you can fill up and keep on hand at all times.

DON'TS

1. Don't pack everything

Well, you need not pack everything you see valuable. It is important to pack smartly and rightly. Carrying extra luggage can put you in difficult and messy situations.

On the off-chance that your luggage gets lost or doesn’t make it to your destination immediately, it is recommended a small carry-on with your most important items like any medications, snacks, and an extra change of clothes.

2. Don't carry a large amount of cashu

Well, it's the digital era we are travelling in. Hence carrying a large amount of cash can be dangerous.

Being a tourist in a new area makes you a target for theft and sneaky pickpocketers. We recommend that you bring your ATM card or a prepaid cash card and withdraw money as needed throughout the trip.

3. Don't let the unfavourable situations get the best of you

No matter how much you plan, things can still go wrong. Being able to tackle a hard situation during a time when your mind was expecting pleasure is a huge feat. So don't shy away from any problems or inconveniences you face during travelling or even the trip and let them ruin your mood, solve them with a cool and calm mind.

4. Don't do Drugs or unlimited alcohol

Travelling is usually for finding serenity and having fun through means of drugs and alcohol can be dangerous and put you in unfavourable situations. Also, it can hamper your well-being, especially if you are travelling alone. Hence, even if you wish to consume alcohol, consume in limits.

5. Don't travel to shady places on your own

Whether you are travelling alone or solo, travelling to shady places, especially in the dark, is not the best choice. It can be dangerous and harm you in unpredictable ways. As you may not know Everything about the city it's best to avoid such places and enjoy the most of the tourist places.
